Former President Donald Trump said it was “a great honor” after the International Brotherhood of Teamsters declined to endorse a presidential candidate for the 2024 election.

While visiting a Bitcoin bar in New York City on Wednesday, Trump was asked about the trade union’s decision not to issue an endorsement.

“Mr. President, any reaction to the Teamsters’ decision not to endorse?” a reporter asked.

“It’s a great honor,” Trump replied. “They’re not going to endorse the Democrats. That’s a big thing. And this is the first time in, I guess, 50, 60 years that that’s happened.”

“But the vote of the Teamsters themselves was very high for me, and the leadership โ€” Sean O’Brien and the group, who are great people โ€” they said, we can’t endorse the Democrats,” he continued.

Trump predicted the non-endorsement would make a difference in November’s election.

“The Teamsters carry a lot of weight,” he asserted. “So that was an honor for me.”
