Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz has missed almost half of Juventus’ season so far, having been ruled out of 11 matches across all competitions.
Former Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz has missed 10 games from 23 this season and won’t be available tomorrow when the Bianconeri visit Monza at the U-Power Stadium.
Thiago Motta confirmed at a pre-match press conference on Saturday that Luiz would miss the game as he only wants fully fit players for the last away fixture of 2024.
Douglas Luiz injury struggles continue after transfer from Aston Villa
As Juventus pundit Romeo Agresti highlighted on X, tomorrow will be the 11th time that Douglas Luiz is unavailable for a competitive Juventus match this season.
Sunday’s match in Monza will be the 24th for the Bianconeri this season: 17 in Serie A, six in the Champions League and one in Coppa Italia.
Douglas Luiz joined Juventus from Aston Villa in a €50m transfer last summer, but Enzo Barrenechea and Samuel Iling-Junior’s transfers to Villa Park for a combined €22m fee allowed Juventus to pay just €28m for the Brazilian midfielder.
A recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli had offered Douglas Luiz to Manchester United and City for the January transfer window.
