After the 2020 presidential election, Hermer said: “When it comes to the Trump versus Biden election, we are anything but neutral … thus it is a huge relief to start this podcast by saying out loud, Biden won.
“And you know what? It’s even more pleasure to say out loud [that] Trump lost.”
Starmer, who heads up a center-left administration, has been at pains to build bridges with the U.S. president, despite a host of potential flashpoints and historic attacks on Trump by some of his ministers.
Trump praised Starmer last month for doing a “very good job thus far” and said the pair have a “very good relationship.” The two leaders have spoken regularly and met for the first time last September for dinner.
