A House Republican who has been a consistent thorn in President Donald Trump’s side appeared to finally get under a fiery Trump aide’s skin.
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) has repeatedly clashed with Trump, including supporting Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for president, accusing Trump of using “bullying tactics” and most recently publicly opposing a government funding measure that Trump urged Republicans to support.
All this comes despite Trump previously endorsing Massie in 2022.

But any good will appeared to come to an end when Massie, a longtime deficit hawk, declared Sunday, “I’m not voting for the Continuing Resolution budget (cut-copy-paste omnibus) this week.”
“Why would I vote to continue the waste fraud and abuse DOGE has found?” he asked on X. “We were told the CR in December would get us to March when we would fight. Here we are in March, punting again! WTFO.”
Massie’s declaration earned a stern warning from Chris LaCivita, Trump’s co-campaign manager and senior advisor.
“Tick tock Tommie,” LaCivita wrote Monday morning on X, sharing Massie’s post.
Republicans in the House have an extremely narrow edge, holding 218 seats to Democrats’ 214.
But Massie didn’t back down.
“Someone thinks they can control my voting card by threatening my re-election. Guess what? Doesn’t work on me. Three times I’ve had a challenger who tried to be more MAGA than me. None busted 25% because my constituents prefer transparency and principles over blind allegiance,” Massie fired back Monday afternoon.
LaCivita appeared none-too-pleased.
“Never faced me ….stand by,” he responded.
LaCivita is a seasoned Republican political strategist and consultant with over three decades of experience in campaign management and public affairs. He gained national attention as the chief strategist for the controversial “Swift Boat Veterans for Truth” campaign during the 2004 presidential election, which attacked John Kerry’s military service.
