The latest college football rankings from ESPN are here after the network updated its FPI Top 25 following Week 11 of the season.
There’s a new No. 1 team in ESPN’s FPI following some upsets as well as some statement wins. Ole Miss beat Georgia, Alabama beat LSU, Miami fell to Georgia Tech. Man oh man. A lot happened!
Let’s dive into ESPN’s new FPI rankings following Week 11 of action.
Alabama absolutely dominated LSU on the road in Baton Rouge, 42-13. Was that necessarily expected? Probably not. To the top of the FPI!
Jalen Milroe threw for just 109 yards but ran 12 times for 185 yards and four touchdowns. The defense forced two Garrett Nussmeier interceptions.
Texas wasted no time going home following a 49-17 win over Florida. The Gators came into town and were just floored.
Quinn Ewers threw for 333 yards and five touchdowns and got the rest of the day off. Easy day for the Longhorns, who remained at the top of the SEC standings.
Ohio State only dropped in the FPI like Texas due to the Crimson Tide vaulting up to the top spot. The Buckeyes shutout Purdue 45-0, so there was no chance of an upset there.
Will Howard tossed for 260 yards and three touchdowns in the air, while also putting one in on the ground. In the run game, TreVeyon Henderson led the way with 85 yards on six carries and six touchdowns.
Notre Dame was done with Florida State rather early and the winning streak continued for the Fighting Irish. A 52-3 win was the latest romp of the Seminoles, who fell to 1-9.
Basically, Notre Dame took care of business and moved up a spot in the FPI. Next up is Virginia before a ranked matchup with Army at home.
Hey, how about Ole Miss? Lane Kiffin and company moved up a spot in the FPI with a 28-10 win over Georgia.
This is a game they had to have. Ole Miss still has two losses so every game is important for the CFP chances, but man. What a win. The defense shut down UGA’s offense, forcing another Carson Beck interception and not allowing more than 47 yards from a single rusher.
Speaking of Georgia, the Bulldogs fell two spots in the FPI following this loss. Remember when there were questions of “what is wrong?” Well, they were answered.
Kirby Smart’s offense isn’t working right now. Beck is struggling mightily and despite being a road favorite, Georgia fell to Ole Miss. It’s still surprising isn’t it? The playoff hopes are on thin ice.
Nothing new for Oregon this weekend, which didn’t move in the FPI either. A 39-18 win over Maryland was just the latest game.
Now at 10-0, the Ducks remained at the top of the Big Ten standings during their first week as the No. 1 team in the CFP. Two more games to clinch an undefeated regular season and the top spot in the Big Ten.
The Nittany Lions are back in the top 10 of the FPI with a 35-6 win over Washington. It was exactly the response James Franklin and company needed to give following the loss to Ohio State.
Don’t forget, this team is still 8-1 overall and squarely in the playoff mix. A couple of funky things would have to happen to get into the Big Ten title game, but stranger things have happened.
Tennessee got another win to improve to 8-1 overall but dropped a spot in the FPI. The biggest concern is QB Nico Iamaleava, who left the game with an injury.
Head coach Josh Heupel was just being cautious by holding him out in the second half. Dylan Sampson made the offense go though, finishing with 149 yards and a touchdown in the 33-14 victory.
There’s the Indiana wagon. Well, it wasn’t as dominant this week so the Hoosiers remained in the No. 10 spot in the FPI.
Still, Indiana improved to 10-0 with a 20-15 win over Michigan and set a new school record for wins. It was closer than expected, but this team is very close to a spot in Indianapolis. Next up? Ohio State in Columbus in two weeks.

Miami dropped out of the top 10 of the FPI with their first loss of the season. South Carolina got a nice bump beating Vanderbilt and has the head to head over Texas A&M, LSU dropped following a blowout loss and Colorado is slowly working its way up after another win. Onto Week 12!
