High school athletes Jackson Hein and Gavin Garretson both signed their letters of intent to play sports at the next level on Thursday. Hein signed with the University of California and Garretson signed with the University of Arkansas.

On Wednesday, two young men made their dreams come true, the opportunity to compete at the Division One level for the next 4 years.

Jackson Hein, who signed his letter of intent with the University of California Berkeley, he just recently finished the 3-mile CIF Northern Sections race with a time of 15 minutes and 38.76 seconds.

Gavin Garretson is rated as the No. 50 in the Tight End Class of 2025 by ESPN. Garretson caught 20 passes for 383 yards and six touchdowns as a senior. Garretson signed his letter to play football with the University of Arkansas in the Southeastern Conference (SEC)

I’m feeling very blessed and, I mean every kids dream is to play at the highest level possible, ya know growing up playing football. Having to other brothers that play, this is kind of my way to compete with them. Like, man who can play in the best conference, who can do this.” said Garretson.

“Super super grateful because, Cal is a place iv wanted to go since i was six years old. My uncle went to Cal, played football & Rugby there. My dad also went there and played volleyball there. So when I found out Cal was interested, it was already on the very top of my list.” said Hein.

Truly, it was a special day for both of these young men as they make Chico proud.
