President Donald Trump has named two Fox News hosts — both of whom have promoted right-wing conspiracies — to join the board of the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts.

Trump wrested control of the Kennedy Center on the banks of the Potomac River, resulting in spiraling ticket sales and artists canceling performances in protest. After returning to the Oval Office, the president ousted the art institution’s leadership and packed the board of trustees with loyalists before designating his proxy, Richard Grenell, to run the operation.

With the change, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt boasted last month, “The Kennedy Center learned the hard way that if you go woke, you will go broke. President Trump and the members of his newly-appointed board are devoted to rebuilding the Kennedy Center into a thriving and highly respected institution where all Americans, and visitors from around the world, can enjoy the arts with respect to America’s great history and traditions.”

On Friday, Trump said he added two MAGA loyalists to his team.

“I am thrilled to announce that Laura Ingraham and Maria Bartiromo will be joining our Kennedy Center Board – This completes our selection,” Trump announced on his Truth Social platform. “We look forward to restoring the Center to Greatness, and ushering in America’s Golden Age. Together, we will Make the Arts Great Again!”

Both Ingraham and Bartiromo have histories of making controversial statements, including promoting baseless election fraud conspiracy theories.

Among other controversies, Ingraham, host of her eponymous primetime television show on Fox News, once ridiculed Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg over his college admissions, leading to a significant advertiser boycott of her show. In a July 2019 show, she also defended Trump’s racist tweets telling four Congresswomen of color to “go back” to “the places from which they came.”

A year earlier, she earned praise from white supremacist David Duke over an anti-immigrant rant.

Bartiromo, meanwhile, has faced criticism for giving a softball interview with Trump, repeatedly pushing a false Joe Biden bribery story and citing Gateway Pundit on air, a far-right website that unsuccessfully filed for bankruptcy, facing election conspiracy defamation lawsuits.
