Trojan girls, Woodmen boys win titles

Center Grove’s girls topped Roncalli in a stepladder final, 326-288, to win a sectional championship on Saturday. Jillian Rosener led the Trojans with a three-game score of 557, good for third individually; Greenwood’s Bella Blythe was the runner-up.

On the boys side, Greenwood won the team title and Roncalli’s Jordan Bauerle was the individual champ.

Center Grove takes road win

Kellen Thomson’s 15 points topped a balanced attack as Center Grove completed a perfect weekend by winning at Perry Meridian, 69-48, on Saturday. Cayden Jones and Brayden Stark added 11 points apiece for the Trojans (5-5).

Thomson and Ethan Cacciotti scored 16 apiece in Friday’s 59-49 victory over Floyd Central.

Girls basketball

Braves shut down Sparkplugs

Jasmine Day had 18 points and seven assists to lead Indian Creek past Speedway, 51-37, for its eighth consecutive victory. The Braves (12-4) also got 11 points from Alivia White and 14 rebounds from Alexa Sichting.

Swimming and diving

Trojans sweep home invitational

Center Grove’s boys and girls locked down the team titles at the Center Grove Holiday Invitational on Saturday. The Trojan girls swept all three relays and got individual wins from Averie Matern (50 breaststroke and 100 individual medley), Santana Gonzalez (50 backstroke) and Clara Brandon (50 freestyle). The boys got first-place finishes from Dathan Schramm (diving), Isaac Lewis (50 breast) and the 200 medley relay.

The Trojan boys defeated Zionsville on Friday, 99-84, while the girls suffered a 109-77 defeat.

Franklin College

Women’s basketball shuts down Quakers

Franklin College ran its win streak to six with a 76-60 triumph at Earlham on Saturday afternoon. Jordan Coon paced the Grizzlies (10-2, 4-1 HCAC) with 19 points and three steals, Erica Buening totaled 16 points and nine rebounds and Payton Seay chipped in 10 points and eight boards.

Men’s basketball routs Earlham

Lynn King’s 13 points and 13 rebounds led the way as Franklin College opened with a 22-2 run and rolled to an 81-56 win at Earlham. Braden Flanagan added 11 points for the Grizzlies (8-4, 4-1 HCAC), who had 11 players finish with at least four points in the blowout.
