AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) — New Zealand won the toss and chose to bowl Friday in the second Twenty20 international against Australia at Eden Park.
Australia leads the three-match series 1-0 after winning the first match on Wednesday by six wickets with a boundary off the last ball.
Steve Smith returns to the Australia lineup after missing the first match. He will open in place of David Warner while wicketkeeper Matthew Wade takes over from Matt Short.
Nathan Ellis has been named in place of Mitchell Starc as Australia rotates players ahead of the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and United States in June.

Trent Boult returns to the New Zealand lineup for his first T20 international since November 2022. He replaces his former new-ball partner Tim Southee while seamer Ben Sears replaces spinner Ish Sodhi.
Rachin Ravindra is out with a minor knee injury and was replaced by Will Young.
