EAST LANSING, Mich. (WKOW)– No. 8 Michigan State extends its win streak to five games after defeating No. 11 Wisconsin 71-62 on Sunday afternoon.
Jaden Akins led the Spartans with 19 points. Jaxon Kohler added 10 points and 16 rebounds. The Spartans shot 28-for-71 (39.4%) from the floor and 9-for-27 (33.3%) from three-point range.
John Blackwell led Wisconsin with 19 points and six rebounds. However, the Badgers struggled offensively, shooting 5-for-32 (15.6%) from three-point range.
Both teams were even scoring in the paint with 32 each. Michigan State finished with 20 fast-break points. The Spartans also dominated the boards, out-rebounding Wisconsin 51-40 with 13 offensive rebounds.
The Badgers fall to 12-6 in the Big Ten conference, taking them out of contention for a regular season conference title. Michigan State and Michigan will battle it out for the Big Ten regular seasont title.
Up next: Wisconsin plays at Minnesota on Wednesday before hosting Penn State for its final home game on Saturday.
