In case you missed Wednesday’s NYT Mini, you can find the answers here:

Wondering what a sports shocker might be? Not sure what an alarm disclaimer could be referring to? Don’t worry, because I’m here to help you with some hints and the answers for today’s NYT Mini crossword.

The NYT Mini is a quick and dirty version of the newspaper’s larger and long-running crossword. Most days, there are between three and five clues in each direction on a five by five grid, but the puzzles are sometimes larger, especially on Saturdays.

Unlike its larger sibling, the NYT Mini crossword is free to play on the New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, you’ll need an NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives.

To help you avoid getting stuck and having to reveal missing letters, here are the NYT Mini Crossword hints and answers for Thursday, March 13.

Spoilers lie ahead, so remember to scroll slowly:

NYT Mini Crossword Clues And Answers

NYT Mini Across Answers

1 Across: The slightest bit – A TAD

5 Across: Like a crossword clue about crossword clues – META

6 Across: Sports shocker … with a hint to the circled letters – UPSET

NYT Mini Down Answers

2 Down: Automaker with a Cybertruck – TESLA

3 Down: “This is ___” (disclaimer accompanying an alarm) – A TEST

4 Down: First ones might be awkward – DATES

6 Down: FedEx competitor – UPS

It took me 0:37 to complete today’s NYT Mini.

META and UPSET were the only ones I got from the Across clues, but I cleared everything up by getting all the Down answers.

I wasn’t entirely sure how UPSET ties into “tes” in terms of a “sports shocker.” My first suspicion was that we were supposed to read the letters upwards so that they spell “set” – as in “three sets up” to win a tennis match.

However, the circled letters are literally spelling “set” upwards. Up… set. [facepalm]
