A luxury watch expert tried to take former President Donald Trump’s new line of timepieces seriously — and almost immediately failed.
Oisín O Malley, UX designer and a prominent watch reviewer on YouTube, took Trump’s newly announced $100,000 Tourbillon gold watch to figurative pieces in a 15-minute review in which he repeatedly broke out laughing.
“I think the man is generally quite hilarious, so nothing new there,” O Malley said. “Let’s take it seriously — if I can do that.”
O Malley first examined Trump’s $799 Fight Fight Fight onyx gold-plated watch and quickly dismissed it as “pretty cheap stuff.”
He then turned to the Tourbillon, or open-faced, watch, in which O Malley found a number of flaws. The first of which was the promotional photography.
“I know gold watches very well — I have one here on my wrist — and when you see the fake gold watches, this is what the gold looks like,” O Malley said. “The photos aren’t really helping here.”
But it’s when O Malley viewed the back of the watch and read its “Fight Fight Fight” slogan that the reviewer had to laugh out loud.
“Ah, boy, the back is too much man,” O Malley said. “This is a very poorly designed watch. It’s very very basic, it looks like it was designed on a computer, on one of these standard watch-building sites.”

O Malley also took umbrage with the “basic” font of Trump’s name — noting it was not the iconic font that appears on the front of his buildings.
“I don’t know where the hell they came up with this font,” O Malley said. “It’s really, really thrown together.”
O Malley was baffled by the decision to stud the spinning bezel — a watch rim that allows owners to time events — with diamonds.
“There’s nothing to time here,” O Malley said, “Unless you’re in the mood for counting tiny little diamonds, it wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense.”
Even the $100,000 price tag earned a laugh from O Malley who argued it made obvious Trump’s obvious goal in offering the watches for sale.
“I assume this watch was not very expensive to put together — he’s probably making a lot of profit,” O Malley said. “I think that’s quite funny as well.”
As for buyers, O Malley suggested the key draw was the name on the dial — otherwise they’d purchase a $30,000 gold Rolex he argued had a better design at a fraction of the cost.
“But of course they don’t say Trump on the dial, do they?” O Malley said. “If you’re a Trump fan, everything you’re seeing is beautiful.”
