Dozens of Big Bend High School sporting events are being postponed or canceled by an incoming winter storm that is set to bring a mix of rare wintery conditions to the area.

With the incoming weather bringing potential mixes of snow, sleet, ice and freezing rain to the area, Leon County schools are releasing students early on Tuesday. Leon and surrounding counties like Gadsden, Madison, Jefferson and Taylor are closing schools on Wednesday.

Wakulla County has yet to announce if schools will close on Wednesday.

Soccer district tournaments are still set to begin this week, with Tuesday and Wednesday’s games now being pushed back to Thursday at the earliest.

Some games are being moved to Saturday to accommodate for the incoming weather system.

Basketball games are being rescheduled or canceled as the final weeks of the regular season pause with snow incoming.

Schools are expected to reopen on Thursday, with games currently scheduled on that day expected to go forward as planned.
