- Rochester City Council will vote on funding towards a community sports parks maintenance pilot.
- The council will authorize a $20,000 agreement with specific organizations.
Community sports parks around the city could be getting some improvements as the Rochester City Council is set to vote March 25 on appropriations and sponsorship agreements relating to a community sports parks maintenance pilot.
The pilot seeks to support athletic activities hosted on city green spaces and athletic fields by providing limited funding to community sports organizations to maintain facilities.
With this vote, the council would authorize sponsorship agreements with Charlotte Youth Athletic Association, Inc., Western New York Pop Warner Little Scholars Football League, Inc., ROC E6, Inc., and Southside Little League.
These sponsorship agreements will aid in supporting and maintaining the playability of these permitted facilities.
The maximum compensation for the agreements will be $20,000, which is funded by the 2024- 25 budget of the city council and clerk.
Recommended projects for the pilot include purchasing an infield mix to alleviate drainage issues on playing surfaces, game-time security, and lacrosse field set-up and maintenance.
