No. 9 Tennessee (3-0) defeated Kent State (0-3), 71-0, Saturday at Neyland Stadium.

The Vols led, 65-0, at halftime. Tennessee set a pair of scoring records against the Golden Flashes, scoring 37 points in the first quarter and 65 points in the first half. The Vols also set a single-game scoring mark in the modern era.

Redshirt freshman Nico Iamaleava completed 10-of-16 passing attempts for 173 yards and one passing touchdown. He also rushed for 31 yards on five attempts. Gaston Moore entered the game in the second quarter and completed 4-of-4 passing attempts for 94 yards and two touchdowns.

DeSean Bishop rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns on seven attempts, while Dylan Sampson totaled 101 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 15 attempts.

Dont’e Thornton Jr. totaled two receptions for 64 yards, while Chris Brazzell II recorded two receptions for 63 receiving yards and one touchdown. Mike Matthews finished the contest with two receptions for 35 yards and one touchdown.

Tennessee’s defense scored on a safety in the first quarter and kicker Max Gilbert added two field goals after halftime.
