Former President Donald Trump’s adviser Stephen Miller blew up Tuesday on Fox News in response to Vice President Kamala Harris’ Philadelphia rally with her new running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz — and suggested the duo wants to turn America into Somalia’s capital city.
“He is the biggest booster in the whole country for unlimited refugee resettlement,” fumed Miller, an infamous anti-immigrant crusader who was behind some of the Trump administration’s most controversial anti-migrant policies and now runs a legal group suing over government policies intended to promote racial equity. “That means under the Harris/Walz plan, they’re going to turn the entire Midwest into Mogadishu.”
“That’s their plan,” he added. “That’s their policy. I don’t think there’s a market for that in the United States of America.”

Minnesota is home to one of America’s largest Somali communities, including numerous refugees from the war-torn African country and their descendants — one of these refugees being Rep. Ilhan Omar, one of the first Muslim women elected to the House.
The community has sparked Islamophobic and xenophobic conspiracy theories on the right, one of the most recent being that the redesign of Minnesota’s state flag was a secret effort to make it resemble the flag of Somalia — even though the two flags have little in common other than a white star and the color blue.
In recent weeks, Miller also made the news for asking that his group be removed as official advisers to Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation plan that calls for a radical reshaping of the federal government to empower Republican executives and undermine the civil service, as the proposal has grown more widely known and unpopular among voters.
