Donald Trump’s senior campaign adviser is “openly angling” for his “next job” for U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R), according to a former aide for Barack Obama.

Senior Trump campaign adviser Chris LaCivita, who has been targeted by those who say Trump should fire him in the wake of a momentum shift in the race against Vice President Kamala Harris, on Saturday took the unusual step of calling out Cruz’s campaign on social media.

“What the hell is wrong with the Senate race in Texas?” LaCivita asked over the weekend. “I think i know …and i think i know his name ….time to get some real professionals in to save [Cruz].”

Entertainment reporter Alicia Jacobs responded to the attack, saying, “You’re a very smart & savvy man.”

“Surely you can see & feel just how repulsive & insincere [Cruz] is these days?” Jacobs asked. “Too bad he wasn’t primaried by an appealing [GOP] candidate.”

Former New York Attorney General senior enforcement counsel John Oleske said, “Aren’t you…running DJT’s race for President of the United States?”

“I mean, I’m here for your dooming & dissing on The Odious Ted Cruz—*I’m right here for it*—but in between desecrating Arlington and reviving the KKK in Ohio, how do you find the time?” Oleske asked.

Patrick Dillon, a former Obama White House deputy political director who is married to Jen O’Malley Dillon, chair of Harris for President, also flagged the development, and linked LaCivita’s comments to Trump re-hiring his controversial 2016 campaign adviser, Corey Lewandowski.

“I know he’s worried about Lewandowski but generally speaking you’re not supposed to be openly angling for your next job like this,” Dillon said on X.

Liam Donovan, a former National Republican Senatorial Committee aide, had a different take:

“Just the same primary feud flaring back up in the general,” he said.
