ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WFFT) – In May 2022, FOX55 reported on the class action lawsuit an Allen County inmate won over the jail’s living conditions.
Since then, the ACLU released court documents of an appeal by inmate Vincent Morris, to be released.
The documents state Morris is appealing to be released from the Allen County Jail during his hearing on July 15th, due to the inevitable delay of the new facility.
The documents stated on July 5th, the Indiana Tax Court denied Allen County’s request for a bond after the review and appeal for a new Allen County Jail by the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance.
A continuance of the judicial review for August 9th, will be the next phase taken by the Indiana Tax Court, without any bond to appeal the decision approving the funding for the jail.
Morris’ lawyers say the simple fact the Tax Court case is continuing into August means the inevitable delay of the jail being built with the potential future of the facility unknown.
