Fashion InStyle’s Second Edition to Showcase Trends, Sustainability and Innovation in Hong

by

Fashion InStyle, formerly known as the Hong Kong Fashion Week, is Asia’s leading event to discover the latest fashion trends along the entire fashion supply chain including textiles, fashion technologies, sustainability practices and solutions, suppliers and partners of all-season clothing and accessories.

The second edition of Fashion InStyle, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, is set to return under a new EXHIBITION+ physical and digital hybrid model, which reinvents HKTDC fairs to serve global fashion traders anytime and anywhere.

The much-awaited physical show will run from April 20-23 to maximize the synergy in the global sourcing season. It will bring together hundreds of exhibitors from the clothing and fashion industry and take place concurrently with Home InStyle at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, creating a dynamic sourcing festival for lifestyle products. Meanwhile Click2Match, the show’s online smart business matching platform, will operate from April 13-30.

In 2023, these two fairs, alongside five concurrent HKTDC events—Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair, Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair, Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair, Hong Kong International Licensing Show and Asian Licensing Conference—successfully attracted close to 56,000 buyers from over 130 countries and regions.

“We like the Hong Kong show, which is better organized than the fashion fairs we participated in Korea,” said Hayeon Kim, CEO of Korean-based women’s apparel brand Salon de Yohn, speaking of the 2023 edition. “We also took the chance to network with other exhibitors here and found several potential partners such as a fabrics supplier from Quanzhou of Fujian Province and a button manufacturer from Shantou of Guangdong Province. This really opens up new opportunities to expand business.”

This year’s Fashion InStyle event will feature over 400 exhibitors from eight countries and regions, including India, Indonesia, Luxembourg, Mainland China, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Thailand. Exhibitor booths will be positioned in themed zones, including the new Certification & Trade Services Zone, which promotes services related to meeting standards for garments.

The Fashion Tech Zone will showcase the latest technologies for efficiently manufacturing high-quality garments with special features. The Athleisure Zone will feature collections of fashion pieces that seamlessly blend comfort, functionality and style, offering a versatile and dynamic wardrobe suitable for both active pursuits and casual outings.

Other zones will exhibit a wide range of new season garments, international designer collections, fashion accessories, fabrics and more. The participation of exhibitors from countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), coupled with a strong emphasis on sustainability, will greatly enrich the vibrancy of the fair.

In addition to product showcases, the event will feature fashion parades and presentations that will captivate global buyers with the latest designs and brand features. Further, an informative lineup of seminars on fashion trends, technology and sustainability, along with networking receptions, will keep buyers abreast of market intelligence and provide opportunities for industry professionals to explore business prospects.

In the seminar “Fashion Outlook & Forecast,” researchers from Coresight Research will provide a recap of the apparel retail market in 2023, an analysis of the challenges currently encountered and a forecast for 2024. Also, the representatives from local Hong Kong institutes and companies will delve into the latest fashion tech trends for this year in the seminar “The Next Fashion Tech & Innovation.”

Last but not least, the seminar “Sustainable Fashion: Pioneering a Greener Industry” will analyze the sustainable fashion focus, the requirements for importing products and which standards offer benefits.

Connections around the clock

EXHIBITION+ comprises four key exhibition elements, including HKTDC-organized physical fairs, the smart business-matching platform Click2Match, online-to-offline seminars under the Intelligence Hub, and HKTDC’s online sourcing platform.

Together, they provide round-the-clock services that boost the flexibility and effectiveness of business promotion for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) and offer benefits such as extended fair periods, expanded platforms and enhanced opportunities. EXHIBITION+ extends face-to-face interactions from physical exhibitions to the online environment to help enterprises connect with business partners proactively.

As always, HKTDC’s 50 global offices connect and bring in international buyers, while its B2B matchmaking specialists will match suitable exhibitors according to buyers’ sourcing demands and arrange online and offline meetings to facilitate business cooperation. Regardless of whether deals happen on the show floor or online, HKTDC is helping companies make connections and drive business.

“It is very nice to come to Hong Kong again to find new fabric suppliers at Fashion InStyle,” said David Valker, managing director of apparel and uniform manufacturer Sk8 Kft., Hungary, about last year’s show. “We have already found six potential suppliers from Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan and Mainland China for recycled and sustainable fabrics including corn fabric. We expect to conclude business with two new suppliers. Initial orders are estimated at US$30,000 to US$60,000. Hong Kong is an amazing city with an excellent business environment, and this is a very successful show.”
